For our most recent project, we were challenged to find a location or event to photograph the strangers around us. I tried a few locations- the Statehouse, the Horseshoe, a concert- but my most interesting photos were taken right next door on Main St. This project pushed me to expand my social boundaries even further, forcing me to approach new people. The most difficult part of this project for me was feeling uncomfortable while taking the photos. There are quite a few instances when you can tell that my subjects were aware of me taking their photos. This varied with different types of people and what they were doing, but for the most part, people would shrug and continue on their day. I also learned a lot about missing the “perfect moment.” There were so many different points of this project when I would see something phenomenal, moving, or just cool, but I wouldn’t have my camera, or my ISO was too low, the list goes on. While there were lots of amazing moments I missed, I believe that a lot of my photos are interesting and visually appealing.
