For my final project in my advanced photography class, I decided to choose a subject who I could rely on to show up to the shoot, follow directions, and most importantly, ensure my safety and health. If you couldn't already figure it out by the title, it was me!
My Canon T6i has remote shooting capabilities that I can control through my phone. Without a tripod, lights, or any other accessories- I had to get creative. To solve my tripod issue I relied on stacking books, sticking rolled-up socks under the lens, and other non-conventional methods.
Unfortunately for my lighting situation, every single light bulb in my kitchen and living room was burnt out. This left me with a sole halfway light, a standing lamp, and my build-in flash. Solving this was mostly about angling the lamp correctly and shooting during the day when it is brighter.
With all my other issues solved I had to work on my confidence. I've never had my own photos taken other than by a photography classmate. As the shoot went on my confidence kept building and I feel as though that's evident through my photos. Seeing a great photo of myself, after overcoming all the obstacles, was incredibly gratifying, knowing that I was able to take great photos in less than ideal situations.
Overall, I was super pleased with how my photos came out and how I was able to capture my many different sides.
