For my mom's Christmas Present, I decided to create a watercolor painting of my childhood home. Unfortunately, the only picture I had of the house was off of Zillow.com, so it was slightly blurry, and I only had a picture from one angle, which made it difficult to perfect some of the aspects such as the stairs, and the landscaping. I solved this issue by drawing these features after having printed it.
This is all I was able to render using Illustrator. I created it using the pen tool and a low opacity picture of the house. I used a free vector of a tree to replicate the one in front of our house.
After adding line detailing to the image, I got my friend Sophie Julich to watercolor the drawing for me, since she's much more skilled in the watercolor arena.
With the final touch, voilá!
